How to Install APK & XAPK Files
A step-by-step guide to installing Android applications from APKHub
Installing APK Files
APK (Android Package Kit) is the file format used by Android operating systems for the distribution and installation of mobile apps. Follow these steps to install an APK file on your Android device:
Enable Unknown Sources
Before installing APK files, you need to allow your device to install apps from sources other than the Google Play Store:
- For Android 8.0 and above: Go to Settings > Apps > Special access > Install unknown apps, select the browser you're using, and toggle "Allow from this source"
- For Android 7.0 and below: Go to Settings > Security and enable "Unknown Sources"
Download the APK File
Browse APKHub to find the app you want to install. Click the "Download" button to save the APK file to your device.
Install the APK
Once the download is complete, open the APK file from your notification panel or using a file manager. Tap "Install" when prompted.
Open the App
After installation is complete, you can tap "Open" to launch the app immediately, or find it in your app drawer later.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues during installation, try these solutions:
- Make sure you have enough storage space on your device
- Check that you've enabled installation from unknown sources
- If you get a "Parse Error," the APK might be corrupted or incompatible with your device
- For XAPK files, ensure you're using the latest version of the APKHub App
- Try restarting your device if installations are failing
- Make sure your Android version is compatible with the app you're trying to install
